- World is plagued by monsters called "Noise" that can kill humans on contact, and can't be harmed by normal weaponry. As of recently, weapons called "Symphogear" have been developed from ancient magic relic fragments. They are activated by song and are the only thing that can destroy the Noise.
- Chris' parents are both famous musicians, living in Japan.
- When she's 8, her parents travel to a war-torn area in South America to help, and take Chris along. They are killed by a bombing, leaving Chris alone and orphaned.
- A local gang picks her up as a slave. There are a lot of unfortunate implications as to what happened while she was captive.
- The Japanese Government finally finds her (having kept tabs on famous singers for the Symphogear project) when she is 14 (6 years later) and bring her back to Japan. Before they arrive, a woman named Finé kidnaps Chris and takes her in as an attack dog and plaything.
- Finé gives her the Ichii-bal symphogear, as well as two complete relics (Nehushtan and Solomon's Cane, the latter of which can summon Noise).
- After two years, Finé orders Chris to kidnap one of the government's Symphogear users. After a few failed attempts, Chris realizes the other user is meant to replace her, and tries to kill the girl instead.
- Finé intervenes and reclaims both complete relics, leaving Chris with only Ichii-bal and abandoning her. When Chris tries to return to her, Finé tries to kill her with Noise.
- Pretty much homeless for some time. Slowly convinced to work with the other Symphogear users against Finé, which she grudgingly does.
- Launches a suicide attack in order to counter the shot fired by Finé's particle cannon.

- Parents are semi-successful musicians gaining in popularity.
- When Yuki is 8, her parents die violently somewhere overseas. Yuki can't actually remember the details, or even if she was present. Doesn't question this.
- Somehow ends up back in Asphodel, and is put into the foster care. Bounced around a variety of different foster families. Her experiences are traumatic, to say the least.
- Eventually just put into the orphanage/community foster home when she is 14. Been there since.
